Goenawan Mohamad

Goenawan Mohamad, familiarly known as GM, is an Indonesian poet, essayist, playwright and painter, and one of the founders of Tempo magazine. He has published 15 volumes of Catatan Pinggir, 22 volumes of essays, 14 volumes of poetry, two novels and more, and has received awards from several international institutions, including the Professor Teeuw Award from Leiden University in 1992, the Louis Lyons Award for Conscience in Journalism from Harvard University in 1997, and an award from the Japan Foundation in 2022. In 2001, he served as a Regents' Professor at the University of California.

Goenawan Mohamad, akrab disapa GM, adalah seorang penyair, esais, penulis lakon, dan pelukis asal Indonesia, serta salah satu pendiri Majalah Tempo. Ia telah menerbitkan 15 jilid Catatan Pinggir, 22 jilid esai, 14 jilid puisi, dua novel dan lain-lain, serta menerima penghargaan dari beberapa lembaga internasional, antara lain Professor Teeuw Award dari University of Leiden pada tahun 1992, Louis Lyons Award for Conscience in Journalism dari Harvard University pada tahun 1997, dan penghargaan dari The Japan Foundation pada tahun 2022. Pada tahun 2001, ia menjabat sebagai Regents' Professor di University of California.
