Dr. Kerstin Pilz is a former academic, TEDx speaker, writing coach, retreat leader, and author. She grew up in Germany and traveled the world before settling in Australia. She holds a PhD in Italian literature and spent most of her working life as an academic, teaching European languages and intercultural communication in Australia, Italy, the Maldives, and on a floating university campus aboard a cruise ship.

She is widely published in academia, including a monograph on Italo Calvino. Her travel features have appeared in The Australian, The Sydney Morning Herald, and The New York Times. Discovering the healing power of writing following a traumatic life event was life-changing, prompting her to leave academia in order to teach creative writing online and on international retreats. Loving My Lying, Dying, Cheating Husband is her debut memoir.
