Fatima Bhutto is a Pakistani writer and columnist who was born in Afghanistan and grew up in Syria and Pakistan. She published her debut novel, The Shadow of the Crescent Moon, in 2013, which was longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction and the Baileys Prize. Set in Pakistan’s tribal region, the novel established her as a significant literary voice. She is the author of several works of fiction and non-fiction, including Songs of Blood and Sword, New Kings of the World, and The Runaways. Her most recent book is the highly acclaimed memoir The Hour of the Wolf. Bhutto completed a BA in Middle Eastern Studies at Columbia University and received a Master’s degree in South Asian Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London.
