Kirsten Han is Editor-in-Chief of Mekong Review, a quarterly Asian literary magazine, and runs We, The Citizens, a newsletter covering Singapore from a rights-based perspective. She is the author of The Singapore I Recognise: Essays on Home, Community, and Hope, published by Ethos Books, with a Chinese translation by SpringHill Publishing. In 2018, she received an Honourable Mention for the World Justice Project's Anthony Lewis Prize, and in 2019 won a Human Rights Press Award for her commentaries on "fake news" and free expression in Singapore. In 2024, she won the Portside Review Human Rights Essay Prize for Singapore Will Always Be At War, later published by Epigram Books. Kirsten is a member of the Transformative Justice Collective, campaigning to end the death penalty and Singapore's war on drugs, and sits on the executive committee of the Anti-Death Penalty Asia Network (ADPAN).
